1 - DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? 

With so many contests and shows in today’s media, you’re sure this is the life for you.  Someone told you that you had a great voice, you should record, and surely you could make it if only you had a chance. 

Let’s suppose that you really do have talent which unfortunately most people who think they do, actually do not. How can you be discovered by that big record producer?  I’m here to tell you that it isn’t that easy, but if you do “make it”, it can be very rewarding. “Making it” in the music industry is many things to many people. 

What do you consider “making it” to be? Winning a talent show? Meeting someone who tells you that you’re as good as a named artist or better?  Making a record? Having a song you wrote recorded?  Getting a record deal? These are some of the questions you must ask yourself. When you know what it is you really want to do, then you need to set goals on how to accomplish that. If you just roll with the flow, the years will pass you by and you’ll look back wondering why you missed your big chance...
