I first heard this song performed in New York by Manhattan Transfer and fell in love with it then. Quite often, when we wanted to add an uplifting song to our show, we would choose this one.
Take note that the musician playing that hot piano lead in the break is none other than Hargus "Pig" Robbins who was totally blind. He passed away in January 2022 at 84 and was known as one of the greatest country musicians playing on many albums for so many of the big names like Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, George Jones, Bob Dylan and Miranda Lambert to name a few. He is a legend and will be deeply missed.
